Mr. Richard Harris was influenced at an early age by the “straight” jazz piano styling of Oscar Peterson, Les McCann and Ramsey Lewis. Richard was caught by the sweet tones of Bassist Ray Brown, Paul Chambers, Stanley Clarke and Percy Heath.

Besides playing at numerous clubs and private affairs all over the world, Richard has also appeared locally in the San Francisco Bay Area at Claremont Resort & Spa Hotel, Sharon Heights Golf & Country Club, The Westin Hotels and Resorts, The Jazz Work Shop, The Hyatt Regency, Geoffrey’s, and Yoshi’s San Francisco, United Airlines Fleet Week Celebrations with the Blue Angels at San Francisco Airport, The Olympic Golf Club, The Martinez Public Library, The Palace of Fine Arts, The San Francisco NAACP Annual Fund Raising Dinner, San Francisco Yacht Club, The San Leandro Public Library, Robert Mondavi Winery Napa, Benicia Yacht Club Benicia; just to name a few.

Harris was born in Niagara Falls, New York, and grew up in a home where his parents encouraged their children to pursue music and higher education. After graduating from high school Richard joined the Navy, in 1969 with and Honorable Discharge he left the Navy and began attending City College of San Francisco, where he completed his bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts. Richard later went to San Francisco State to receive his Bachelor in Industrial Art Design and with emphasis on Aeronautic.

Richard Harris is an accomplished Jazz artist, he took charge of his music creativity while arranging, producing, performing and collaborating with others to create Richard Harris and Friends Productions. Richard is also known for his interpretations of classic Jazz and R&B songs, reflecting his knowledge and appreciation of all music. Richard has a groove you will instantly connect with. His smooth, versatile romantic style will charm you, and keep you wanting more. Richard Harris is an impressive and gifted Bassist. He is fast rising and certainly here to stay!!
